Not using your van full-time? Whether you're parking it for winter or between weekend getaways, storing it the right way can make all the difference when it's time to hit the road again. In this post, we’re breaking down simple but important tips for storing your van, especially when it's not in use for a few weeks (or months). Let's dive in!
First Up: Winterizing Your Water System
If you’re not using your van during the winter, one of the most critical things to do is blow out your water system. Leftover water in your lines can freeze and cause serious damage. No one wants to start the season with cracked pipes.

Book Your Routine Maintenance
Before putting your van into storage (or taking it out), it’s always a good idea to schedule routine maintenance. That includes your regular A & B Mercedes services and any general upkeep to make sure your rig stays in peak condition. Just give us a call—our service team has you covered.
Powering Down the Electrical System
Your van’s electrical system needs some TLC too. Depending on how and where you're storing it, you have a couple of options:
Option 1: Power Down Completely
-
Charge your lithium battery system to 100%
-
Turn off all power draws (fridge, lights, etc.)
-
Flip the big red switch inside the electrical cabinet from ON to OFF
This helps preserve battery health and ensures you still have power left when you're ready to roll again. Ideally, you’ll come back to a battery somewhere between 80–100%.
Option 2: Stay Plugged into Shore Power
If you’re leaving your van stored near an outlet:
-
Turn off all amenities inside the van
-
Plug into shore power
-
Turn on the inverter to keep the battery topped off
Heads up! If your outlet’s breaker trips while you're away, your van might not charge. If you're not able to check in regularly, option one might be safer.
