What Is the Aqua Hot 125D?

The Aqua Hot 125D is a dual-purpose heater designed for both water and air. It works much like a furnace in your house, providing heat for both your interior and hot water needs. Once you set it up, you can "set it and forget it"—turning it off at the end of the day when you're done. Here’s a quick breakdown of how to operate it.

Powering Up Your Aqua Hot

To start, you’ll need to decide how you want to power the system. There are two options:

  1. Diesel Burner: The most common option for off-grid use, the burner pulls diesel from your fuel tank. To activate this, find the burner symbol (a flame) on your control panel and select it. You’ll hear the Aqua Hot power up, and you may even see exhaust coming from the outside of the van.

  2. Electric Option: This is best when you're plugged into shore power. It uses more electricity than the diesel option, so it’s not ideal for remote locations. To switch to electric, go to the temperature settings, select the interior temperature you want, then choose the lightning bolt icon labeled "Electric."

Setting the Temperature

Once you've selected your power source, it’s time to adjust the temperature. Here's how:

  • Interior Heat: For a cozy van interior, select the interior temperature you want and click “Set.”

  • Hot Water Only: If it’s a warm day and you just need hot water, go to the settings and turn off the "Interior Heating Priority" option to ensure you're only heating the water.

Best Use Cases for Your Aqua Hot

The Aqua Hot is perfect for all kinds of van life scenarios, but here are some key tips for getting the most out of it:

  • Avoid Rapid On/Off Use: Whether you're parked at a ski hill or simply enjoying a day trip, it’s best not to turn the Aqua Hot on and off constantly. Instead, set it to a low heat setting before you leave. This way, it will maintain a comfortable temperature without using excessive fuel or power. When you return, your van will be warm and ready to go!

  • Longer Use is Better: Think of the Aqua Hot like your home’s furnace in winter. You don’t turn it on and off rapidly, right? Similarly, running it for extended periods (at lower settings) will keep your van at the perfect temperature without unnecessary strain on the system.

Important Things to Remember

  1. Fuel and Power: Always check that you have enough fuel for your Aqua Hot, especially if you’re using the diesel option. When your fuel level drops to about a quarter tank, the Aqua Hot will automatically shut off to prevent any issues. If you’re using the electric option, ensure you're plugged into shore power.

  2. Fueling Up: One important safety note—when you stop to refill your diesel tank, make sure to turn off the Aqua Hot first. It’s essential to avoid running the system while refueling.

  3. Interior Heat While Driving: You can use the Aqua Hot for interior heat while driving. Just make sure to follow the fuel tank precautions when you stop.
