The roots of this collaboration trace back to the year 2000, when Eric Miller, Co-Founder of TOURIG, met Jeff Knight, Co-Founder of Granite Gear. At the time, Jeff was the Chief Designer and a Founding Partner of Granite Gear—a respected name in the outdoor industry known for crafting high-end bags and packs. Eric, meanwhile, was working as an independent sales representative, representing some of the top-tier outdoor brands.

From the start, Eric and Jeff shared a powerful vision: to design, develop, and deliver top-quality outdoor gear with intention and integrity.

A Shared Passion Takes Shape

As the outdoor gear market boomed through the 1990s and early 2000s, Granite Gear’s success caught the attention of larger players. The company was eventually acquired, allowing Jeff to shift gears and dive even deeper into his creative pursuits. Jeff and his wife Lisa founded KnightVision Development—a small but mighty design and manufacturing house located in the woods of Two Harbors, MN.

Their mission? To design innovative, functional outdoor products built to last, all while staying rooted in sustainability and thoughtful design.

A New Frontier: The Adventure Van Market

Fast forward to 2015: Eric Miller and Paul Bulger co-founded TOURIG, just as the adventure van industry was beginning to gain traction. The market was young, with few high-quality products or suppliers available.

Eric turned to Jeff with a bold idea—to bring his legendary design ethos to a new canvas: premium adventure vans. Jeff immediately recognized the potential to create meaningful, durable gear for a growing community of vanlifers, overlanders, and explorers.

And with that, a powerful partnership was born.
